The defending single champion of the 2009 Farmers Classic, also known as the LA Tennis Open or the Countrywide Classic Open ,is Sam Querrey of the United States. Querrey beat Carsten Ball of Australia 6-4, 3-6-, 6-1 in 2009. Other notable champions of this annual tournament are Roy Emerson, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King, Jimmy Conners, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.
