Having Renters Insurance in Florida Apartments

If you are a renter in one of manyFlorida apartments, it is always a wise idea to carry renter’s insurance. If your apartment is ever broken into, or damaged by fire or some other unfortunate event, you are responsible for any of your own personal property that is damaged. Apartment complexes do have insurance policies, but they only cover the damage done to the apartment itself. Anything that you brought into the apartment is your responsibility. If, for example, a pipe bursts in your apartment, and your carpet is damaged, but so is your laptop that was on the floor, the apartment complex will cover the clean up and repair of the apartment, and possible replacement of the carpet. You are responsible for replacing your laptop. Renter’s insurance will cover those costs.
