Rice And Chicken

Although I make a resolution every year to learn to cook it’s still not very often that I find myself ‘throwing down’ in the kitchen. I suppose the main reason is because I wasn’t raised by a mother who was always cooking and I’ve never really been interested in learning how to be a good cook. Cooking yourself certainly is the cheapest way to eat but I eating out has always been my only vice so why not indulge it? Food just never feels ‘fancy’ enough unless someone else has made it. It wasn’t until I had paella for the first time that I decided I was going to try to cook something special for myself. Some of the ingredients seemed hard to find so instead I decided to search for chicken rice recipes that I could easily make myself in a rice cooker. I found one that called for chicken, rice, shrimp, white wine, butter, olive oil and parsley. It was better than any dish at a five star restaurant and I’m hooked on cooking for myself now.
