Talking About Menopause and HRT
"150 Most-Asked Questions About Menopause," by Ruth S. Jacobowitz (Hearst books). Jacobowitz is a medical writer. Although some of the questions and answers are straightforward, for example, "What is premature menopause?"(Answer: Menopause occurring in the 30s or early 40s), much of the information is fairly technical. So many pages are devoted to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) that the book seems to be advocating these treatments. But the author says those are major concerns of more than 10,000 people who have attended her lectures and filled out questionnaires. This volume also includes a good appendix for additional resources. "The Menopause Self Help Book" by Susan M. Lark (Celestialarts Publishing). This book contains worksheets, diet recommendations and checklists for risk factors. The author discusses both vitamins and herbs as dietary supplements.
