Enlarged Prostate Treatment - TUMT
A popular form of enlarged prostate treatment these days is transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) which is an outpatient procedure which does not require anesthesia and is carried out using topical or oral painkillers. A catheter is used to send microwaves into sections of the prostate gland in order to shrink the gland while a cooling system works alongside the catheter to protect the urinary tract from damage. Although this procedure has often been used in the past for patients whose medical history indicates that they will not tolerate invasive surgery and for patients who wish to avoid anesthesia, the procedure today is increasingly being offered to a much broader group of patients.
