Every year my sister-in-law spends a fortune on Christmas presents for the family. Yet, she puts all of these purchases on credit cards and then spends the whole year paying the cards off. If you have ever been to a General Conference session of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then you know that Temple Square is surrounded by picketers around this time. Though there may be an occasional exmormon or two in the crowd, most of these people are from other denominations or have no religious affiliation at all. Every time I see them it saddens me, because I know that they would be happy if they had the gospel in their own lives. I wonder what drives these people to try and make other people unhappy as well, thinking they’ll convince me to become an exmormon.

My son was recently assigned a 10,000 word term paper on the topic of his choice. I’ve been very proud of how hard he’s been working on it and it helps that he got to pick the topic himself.  I  remember when I was in high school, we hated term papers because the stupid bibliography page was so hard to do and it was difficult to keep up with all your sources. I just had a very close friend of mine pass away, and it has been very hard for me to walk through it. I think I am still in shock, so the full weight of the emotion has not yet set in. I was just asked to do the eulogy since I was her closest friend, and I just don’t even know where to start.
