There has been much buzz about how American Idol contestant Syesha Mercado was voted off when clearly she was the best of the three remaining contestants. Rumors that she may boycott the finals. If this was to happen, it would cause quite a stir in the music industry and for American Idol. No contestant has ever made it as far as Syesha Mercado has and then boycotted the finals. In fact, I believe it’s in their contract that they must perform a number of songs for American Idol. But who would blame her? It’s no secret that American Idol has always reserved the right to change the votes or throw them all out.

You just have to look at how many contestants were voted off while American Idol kept Sanjiyah Malacar last year. The only reason he made it as far as he did is because he made a buzz and American Idol liked the PR. Sad, it seems Syesha Mercado was voted off not because of her singing, but because she couldn’t generate enough buzz about American Idol.
