If you need Web space we suggest you use godaddy hosting as they provide amazing services. However when it comes to domain names you do not actually need to have hosting in order to buy a domain name.
The reason is that all registrars will let you park your domain at their site. Now when you park it you not have control over what is shown in place of that page the registrar does. What registrars typically do is they simply for others to buy their services on that page. Now you can go to other services that will Park and provide you with the revenue assuming that domain has inherent traffic. But at the end of the day you don’t actually need space to start building your domain portfolio.
