Festivals in Goa
Church at the monastery was destroyed in 1661, and recreated again from black stone. If it is a patio, where there is a big old cross from the same black stone where they celebrate the Festivals in Goa. The external architecture is decorated in Tuscan style, and the interior – in the mosaic-Corinthian. Dimensions of the church around 60h17 am great organ, who was behind the altar, now transferred to the church at Margao. The interior is painted with scenes from the Bible; the walls are covered with floral designs. In a niche on the facade is a statue of St Michael. Wooden statue of St Francis of Assisi adorns the foot of one of the chapels. Of the eight altars and six chapels, which were once in the church, so far only three have survived. On the main altar – beautifully decorated niche in the shrine, this is supported by the four evangelists. Above the shrine – a large statue of St Francis of Assisi, and a similar statue of Jesus on the cross (about 2 m tall). Now the church is not functioning.
