In an effort to clear up material stock on hand that we do not need to have and therefore free up cash flow issues, we have installed electronic data management for the shop floor.
We were aalwaysordering more than we needed at any given time for one production run because we weren’t sure how long it would take and if we would need to begin another job order in which the supplies would be needed.
Our new system allows us to track a job order from start to finish and track how much materials we have used and how much more we need, even allowing for mistakes along the way. This way, we don’t need to keep enough for 2 or 3 jobs on hand unless we have 2 or 3 jobs lined up already.
