A Guide to United States Patent and Trademark Office
If your company has a name, logo, symbol, special design, or special packaging you should consider registering it as a trademark with the USPTO. You go online to the United States Patent office and go through the process of getting your symbol or such registered. Only names and such that are registered are allowed to incorporate that small “R” symbol that we often see in print or in advertisements. It is the best way to protect your name, symbol, logo or designs so that someone else does not take them and claim the credit for them. As Nike would say, “Just Do It”.
