Child Passenger Safety

Seat belts are made for adults. Backless boosters can be safely used in vehicles with headrests and high seat backs. Backless boosters are usually less expensive and are easier to move from vehicle to vehicle. A:Use a seat that can be used for smaller children and can then be removed for older children. There may be a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in your area who can help. The vehicle door closest to the car safety seat is installed tightly. The vehicle could be driven away from the crash. All passengers should wear toddler car seat and shoulder belts at all times. Children 12 and under should remain in the rear seat. She should ride in a lap and shoulder belt. However, NHTSA offers the following two additional recommendations which are not currently included in Oregon law: 1) children should ride rear-facing in their car seat until they reach the upper height or weight limit recommended by the manufacturer of her car safety seat. They should remain rear-facing until they reach both one year of age AND twenty pounds.
